Good start for U10 hurlers against Na Fianna
In the first match Sylvesters were under pressure from the start against a very good Na Fianna side. This was a tough match for the Syls players and the step up from U9 level was evident. Syls battled hard led by Elliott Lynch and Mathew Hughes in defence, Cillian McDonald and Cillian de Búrca in midfield and Daniel Crampton and Ryan O'Farrell up front. Scores were hard to come by for Syls but the lads never gave up with fine performances from Cian Whitney, Gavin O'Neill, Jamie Wogan and Sam McSwiggan. Maurice Quinn came on as sub in second half and got in some great tackles.
The second match was a much closer affair which ended with a hard fought victory for Syls. Stand-out performances came from Darragh Murtagh and Ollie McLochlainn who both scored crucial goals while Darragh Boyne scored an excellent point which was the difference between the teams at the finish. Andrew McCullagh, Oran Flannery and William Hackett were involved in everything and fine performances also from Cormac Nolan, Barry Corcoran, Sean Fitzpatrick and Jack Manson.
So overall a good start to the season for Syls U10 hurlers with plenty of action to come in 2014.
