OH WHAT A NIGHT - MID SUMMER BALL A HUGE SUCCESS

St Sylvester’s did it with style, the Mid Summer Ball in the Grand Hotel was a night to be proud of. An enormous debt of gratitude is owed to the fundraising committee led by Anthony Cooney, John Cox and John McCormack the organising committee led by Francine Bannigan they put together a night to remember.
The night started with champagne on the lawn where we were entertained by street entertainers, the glitz and glamour would put Cannes to shame. We were joined by Brian Lenihan Minister of Finance, Christy Cooney GAA President elect (Uachtarán Tofa,) GAA, Danny O’Connor Vice Chairman Dublin County Board, Marty Whelan Celebrity Bainisteoir, Fran Whelan Chairman of Fingal County Council, Don Butler Chairman Malahide United, Justin Rogers, President of Malahide Cricket Club (We wish Justin a speedy recovery from his hospital stay this week)

, Tim Maher Chairman Naomh Mearnog and Darragh O’Brien TD to name but a few.

After drinks on the lawn we entered the Tara Suite, which was a sight to behold thanks to Sharon, Margaret, Louise, Chris, Joan, and Francine who had majestically turned this suite into a Syls wonderland with a treasures trove of amazing auction items. The Grand Hotel also did us proud with impeccable service and excellent food. What started out as a corporate event soon turned into a Club shindig as we danced the night away.

One of the many highlights of the night was the auction for a meal cooked by our very own Celebrity Chief Patsy McGurik which fetched an astonishing but well worth it €5,000 many thanks to Patsy. Details of funds raised by Broomfield Development Committee will be available later.

Once again congratulations to all and a big thank you on behalf of the Club.

Susan McLaverty,

Vice Chairperson.
