Street Leagues Finals - Another Wonderful Day for Syls

Well, we did it again - 200 players, 17 games, 34 teams, grannies, grandads, burgers, ice cream, bouncy slides . . . and the weather showed up just right. Sylvesters Annual Street Leagues Finals was another great day for our club and for the Community. Hearty congratulations to Ciaran Meehan and his team for a job very well done. Read Ciaran's message below.

The Street League Finals is becoming an annual flagship event for St Sylvester's and in particular for our Juvenile Section. We ran it over 2 weeks ending on Bank Holiday Monday. We played more than 60 matches of football and hurling for our u7's u9's and u11's over the 2 weeks. This event is primarily used to provide sport for our members but we also use the 2 weeks and in particular The Finals Day, to promote St Sylvester's in our community and to recruit more players and mentors for our club.

County Players

A huge amount of effort is required to ensure this event runs smoothly and to ensure that the kids enjoy our games. I want to thank everybody that helped out over the 2 weeks in particular, Panner our club coach,John Mccormack, Suzanne Shields, Carol and Declan Morris, Liz Clarke, Carol Wall, Brian and Eddie and all the ladies section. Also, I want to thank the mentors that helped and supported the event over the 2 weeks. Special mention for Niall Guiden and Paul Reinheart for electrical support, Fergus Byrne for first aid, Mel and Bernard for photos and John Cox for the loan of the generator. Many thanks to all our referees, it's great to see the older lads giving up their time to referee games. Barry Cahill from the Dublin Senior Team and our own Dublin players, Gary Sweeney,Fionn Carney Sinead Aherne and Niamh Mcevoy presented the medals

It would be remiss of me not to mention our sponsors DAA and indeed the DAA were represented in Broomfield on Monday.

Aplogies if I left anybody out. That's it for another year.

Thanks,

Ciaran
