New format Syls Team overcomes Parnells in Championship R1
St. Sylvester’s 0-19 Parnell’s 0-06
Our Senior footballers got their SFC campaign off to the perfect start with a 13 point win over Parnell’s last Friday. The team that took the field on Friday was much changed from last year with some younger players coming into the team to replace several older lads who had stepped away at the end of last year so it was good get up and running in the newly formatted competition.
Both team traded early scores before we started to take control of the game and make our mark on proceedings. Early Syls points were cancelled out by a couple of Parnell’s frees but from middle of the first half through to half time it was point taking skills of Michael and Ed that came to the fore and we went in at the half with a 0-12 to 0-04 lead.
During the second half we continued to put the pressure on our opponents while only conceding a further two points at the back, eventually winning out by 0-19 to 0-06.
All in all it was a good performance by all involved.
