MISSION STATEMENT
That we as coaches in St Sylvester’s strive to create an environment in which all our players experience a sense of achievement, fun and fair play, as they learn to develop their talents to their full potential.
Purpose of this Coaching manual
This coaching manual is designed to encourage and facilitate Best Practice in all matters related to coaching Gaelic football in our club.
The manual attempts to provide a framework and reference point to our coaching activities. It covers the following :
- Coaching Principles
- Juvenile Structure
- Introduction to the principles of the ‘Modern Game’
- Coaching to children
- Skills – Drills – Conditioning Games for 4 to 10 years old
- Coaching Football to older children & teenagers
- Team play, Strength & Conditioning for 11 to 18 years old
This document was developed by the Football Committee who’s purpose is to :
- All one group- Nursery to Adult
- Special Focus Area’s defined with someone to oversee each area- Nursey to U10, U11-14, U15-19, Adult
- S&C Programme from U14 (including nutrition)
- Coaching Pathway to upskill & increase number of coaches
- Define & Communicate Club Values & Culture (including dual participation)
- Develop Player Welfare Programme
- To ensure adherence to regulatory elements-GV, Code of Conduct etc
- To Develop specialist resource Coaching e.g Stats Analysis, Goalkeeping etc
- Appointment of managers from Championship age upwards
