Players & Coaches please take note that Broomfield’s pitch 1 remains closed this weekend to prevent damage while wet. Please do not train or practice on the it.

Unfortunately our AWP is out of action at the moment. The generator broke down during a game on Saturday evening and there is an engineer calling tomorrow Tuesday to have a look at it. We are unsure how long it will be off line but we will do our best to have it operational as soon as possible. Thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding.

St Sylvester’s Ladies AGM will be held on Thursday 30th January at 8pm upstairs in the clubhouse. Nominations are sought for Ladies Committee positions of Chairperson, Secretary, Juvenile Secretary, Registrar, Ordinary Members and Treasurer for 2020. Coach The Coaches Hurling Session - Friday 17th Jan
The initial Coach the Coaches session at 8.30 - 9.45 pm next Friday 17th Jan is in the clubhouse. It will take place indoors due to variability of weather. The focus is Nursery to U12 age groups for both Camogie & Hurling. Padraic Tierney (Naomh Barrog) will be delivering the session. Paraic has a wealth of experience both as a player & coach (from Juvenile to Senior level in both codes). >>>

Annual Mass in Memoriam
The annual mass for deceased members of St Sylvester's GAA club takes place in St Sylvester's parish church at 10am on New Year's Eve, 31st December. All are welcome along to celebrate our friends and fellow members who have sadly passed away this year and before.
Memorial Matches This St Stephen’s Day
Its the end of another great year of games but don’t forget to put two last matches of the year in your diary. Our hurlers meet for the annual St Stephen’s Day McIntyre & Morris Memorial Cup at Broomfield on St Stephen’s Day. Our adult footballers also face off in the first Hugh Curran Memorial match. Both games have an 11am throw in. See you there! 💙💚

Over the coming days we will be erecting barriers in the goalmouths on P1 and All Weather Pitch (AWP) in Broomfield. In relation to P1, we are placing the barriers in the goalmouth to protect the goal area which is heavily used, during matches,training, and off season. These will also be repaired over the coming weeks to get them right for next season. >>>

Senior Hurling Manager Appointed
St Sylvester’s GAA is delighted to confirm the appointment of Pat Hoyne as the Club’s new Senior Hurling Manager with immediate effect. Pat has been a key contributor to the long-term development of hurling in St Sylvester’s, most recently as Minor Hurling Manager. We wish Pat and his team the very best in the years ahead.

U16 Hurlers Are C Champ Shield Winners!
Our U16 hurlers are C Championship Shield winners following their win today v Lucan. To quote captain & Man of the Match Shane Murray (2nd photo), they ‘left nothing on the pitch’. Congrats David King (3rd photo) on his performance throughout the championship also. There was high praise from their coach Phonsie who appealed to all older boys to come back to hurling with Syl’s - U15s & U16s championship wins are now a great achievement for the Club this year. Well done to the entire panel & coaches Phonsie King Dave McCarthy and Richard O'Sullivan.

Sports Capital Grant success
Further to an application for funding in the 2019 Sports Capital Grant programme made by the Club earlier this year we are delighted to hear of funding awarded to further support the needs of our players and provide additional winter playing facilities for our young people. >>
