Our U7s had a big day out in Bushy Park

Syls 2009 boys debut in sunny Bushy Park! The Syls 2009 boys made their eagerly anticipated football debut against Templeogue Synge Street on Saturday morning in Bushy Park, Terenure. We fielded 8 teams for the blitz, with 57 boys togging out for the first time in the Sylvesters colours. There were plenty of pre-game nerves from the players (and coaches!), but these soon dissipated once the football commenced, and there was great vocal support from parents, siblings and friends who made the trip. I am promised pictures so please come back in a few days.

Our hosts, TSS, whose teams were also making their debut, must be seriously commended for making it such a memorable and enjoyable occasion for all.  Our boys were welcomed on to the pitch with a guard of honour from the TSS teams and the games commenced after a rousing rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann.  The boys from both clubs put on a fantastic display of the skills they have learned at the nursery over the last 3 years, with some fine kicking, catching and tackling on show, and some super scores from all over the pitch.

There were a lot of tired legs at the final whistle, and the boys were delighted to be presented with medals to mark their first official match.

We plan to host TSS in Malahide in September for the return leg, and we’re also looking forward to the Mini Leagues kicking off on Tuesday 31st May (football), Tuesday 7th June (Hurling) and the finals and family day on Sunday 12th June.  The boys train at 1.15pm on Saturdays in Broomfield and newcomers (Under 7s, born calender year 2009)are always welcome.  Peter has a lot of photos and will notify us when ready.
