After 9 years together the Syls. Minor Girls team will play their last match together as a team in the Division 1 Championship Shield Final V Ballyboden St Endas (date & venue yet to be decided) It is appropriate that their last match should be against this Ballyboden Team who won the Championship almost every year between 2005-2013. Ballyboden also won the Division 1 All Ireland Féile title in 2009. During this period Syls also won a title each year including 1 Championship, 3 Championship Shield titles, and 2 League titles, as well as runners up in the League twice.

In the year that Ballyboden won the All Ireland in 2009 Syls. beat them in their League Game. Up to 2013 we had never beaten them in the Championship until October when we remedied this with a great win by 5 points in our group in Broomfield. Now we face them in our very last match in 9 years and it would be great to have support from all former players of this team, parents and Club members. It will be tough but it would be great to go out on a winning note.

Many of these girls are already playing on the Senior Team and will no doubt be joined by others next year. For those who can’t make the step up we would hope to enter a Junior team in a lower Division in 2014, and there is also a big interest in the Gaelic for Mothers & Others starting up again.

Thanks to all who helped out over the past 9 years. It has been a fantastic time with many great memories. Two photographs taken by Peter Hickey are reminders of a great 9 years.
