Syl's Senior Ladies clinch Cup with facile win

Our Senior Ladies footballers won their first silverware of the year on Wednesday night by beating a very weak Lucan Sarsfields team by 5-13 to 0-1. Apart from a tendency to give the ball away too easily, this was an accomplished performance with all 19 players on view making solid contributions

Most notable were Amy Hazely at full back who made many fine catches,  wing back Anne Clarke who played in her trademark style of running into space to make herself available, carrying and passing to a well placed team mate, mid-fielder Sinead Tracy whose defensive work marking Lucan's strongest player had was first rate and she scored a rare point, Niamh Harney and Michelle Walls in the full forward line who, between them scored 3-3 and Emer Treacy who did a lot of work when she came on as a second half sub.

Scorers for Syls were Michelle Walls 2-2, Niamh Harney 1-2, Emer Treacy 1-2, Maeve Killen 1-0, Lucia Hughes 0-2, Anne Clarke, Anna
Brennan, Carol Hickey, Lisa Murphy and Sinead Tracy 0-1 each.

With one match left against Round Towers Clondalkin and all other teams finished, Syls are top of the table with 6 wins out of 6 and
can't be caught. Next target is the league and the goal of promotion to Division 1. Next game is League at home to St. Maur's, our
closest contenders in the Cup, next Wednesday at 7.30pm.
