Syls Seniors Football continue good run in AFL1

AFL 1 St Sylvester’s 3-15 Clontarf 0-05 Our men’s senior team kept up their recent good run of results going with a comprehensive win of over division 1 newcomers Clontarf in Broomfield last night. The visitors started brightly with two quick points but once out lads got into their stride it was all one way traffic. We got two goals either side if half time through Alan Foy and Gary Sweeney that put a real gap between the teams that Clontarf were never able to come close to closing.

The third goal came late on when Gavin McArdle sent a long ball into box and the bounce deceived everybody including the Clontarf goalkeeper with the ball ending up in the net (Jack Hazley claims to have gotten a touch be we believe that Gavin got the goal). There were solid performances from the whole defensive unit while up front they all worked hard to close Clontarf down and force turnovers.

This win puts the seniors in a group of four teams on 6pts from 4 games at the top of AFL 1.

Next up is a clash with Ballymun in Broomfield on Saturday evening @ 5:30pm. Ballymun are another one of the teams on 6pts so this game is going to be a difficult one.
