U13 Girls start season with a great display against Ballinteer St Johns B

St. Sylvesters v Ballinteer St Johns B on 4 Mar 2017 St Sylvesters were to play BSJ on March 4th. Poor weather changed the fixture from Broomfield to Ballinteeer Community School. St Sylvesters lost the toss and had to play against the elements. At the start, the St Sylvesters girls were under serious pressure which eventually led to a BSJ score. The St Sylvesters girls rallied and the St Sylvesters defense and midfield started to dominate and produce good ball, from which the forwards scored. At half time, St Sylvesters lead 3-5 to 0 – 1.

The BSJ girls were intent on reversing the scoring and limited our possession .  The St Sylvesters girls were clinical and allowed only to limited attack on the St Sylvesters goals. The quality of the ball into the forwards allowed for some great scoring opportunities, of which we took a few. Again, the defense was very good, limiting BSJ to only 1 goal. St Sylvesters goalkeepers (S. Hansen, M. Ring and T. O’Keeffe) made some great saves. Their kickouts on the day were excellent and provided the base from which to attack the BSJ goals. St Sylvesters won on a flattering  scoreline 6-9 to 1-1. This was not a true reflection of the BSJ girls who put in a determined performance.

The team on the day was:- S. Hansen, S. Kealy, S. Fogarty, E. Collins, M. Hazley, T. O’Keeffe, C. McMahon, A. McCabe, M. Ring, A. Tilly, L. Murphy, E. Brady, B. Mulleney , A. Brenner and L. Furlong
