U15 A Footballers Record Impressive Win over League Leaders

The U15 A footballers achieved an impressive 7 point victory over division 2 leaders Skerries Harps in Bridgefield on Sunday morning. From the outset, Syls made life very hard for Skerries allowing them no time to settle into a rhythm. The whole team worked as a unit throughout the first half breaking down Skerries attacks with tremendous defending and tackling all over the pitch

Syls repeatedly turned defence into attack, again as a unit, driving forward at pace resulting in a 3-4 to 0-4 lead at half time for the home side.
Syls started brightly in the second half but Skerries finally settled into their best spell of the match midway through the second half. Some terrific last ditch defending and goalkeeping saw the lads weather the storm. The introduction of fresh legs and continued effort by the whole team saw Syls settle again and tack on the scores that would see them comfortably over the line in the end.
This team have displayed terrific character this year. A number of injuries early in the year saw them struggle for numbers and despite their best efforts they narrowly lost their first three games of the season. Since then they have worked extremely hard, training twice a week and typical of these lads, they never lost belief or the team spirit that they have
developed and their hard work is beginning to pay off. Sunday’s game was the highlight of a great fightback that has seen three wins in a row and four in total.
With the top teams in the group all dropping points in recent weeks, this division is now wide open. With the remaining league games and championship still to come these lads have it all to play for this season.
