U15A Footballers continue their good run of form

The U15A footballers made it four wins in a row last night against a tough OP-ER team in Bridgefield. Our lads found it hard to break through a very determined Plunketts side that packed the midfield and worked very hard to frustrate Syls in the opening minutes. Patience and persistence paid off however and two first half goals from Gavin Hydes saw the home side lead by seven points at the break. This could have been a tighter margin but for some exceptional goalkeeping from Ewan Snow including a penalty save.

The lead was extended to nine early in the second half but Plunketts rallied. Two goals saw them cut the deficit to three points with a couple of minutes to go. Ewan again made a fine penalty save and was unlucky not to get to the rebound for the first of the goals. Cool heads were needed and a crucial point from Barry Markey put at least two scores between the sides and the lads kept good possession and defended well to see out a well deserved victory. Once again this was a team performance with everybody playing their part when required.

We can't rest on our laurels however with a home match this Thursday in Bridgefield against Na Fianna.
