U15s finish on a high in Div1

U15A Football League Division 1 After 14 games, the U15 Football League season ended on Sunday with a 4 point win away to Ballyboden. It really was a case of what could have been for this group of players; a slow start where we lost the first 4 games put us out of contention almost from the start.

However, this team has character and since those first 4 reverses they have gone to the end of the season unbeaten with 8 wins and 2 draws. Unfortunately, such is the competitive nature of this league and despite having beaten the teams above us; those results were only good enough for 3rd place. Indeed, in a mark of how competitive the league is, last year’s league champions and Feile winners, Whitehall, were relegated to Division 2. While 3rd place is the lowest recorded by this team since we started competitive leagues at U12, we feel that we have developed significantly as a unit however our slow starts to seasons must be overcome. The work done by our new coaching team of Dave Ryan and Panner McCarthy team is now bearing fruit on the pitch.

Though the league has ended, we still have our eye on Championship. Having come through 2 rounds we face Clontarf at home in Broomfield on the 9th October with a place in the A Championship Final at stake. That promises to be a really tough game so any support on the day would be appreciated, why not make it a day of football and come watch the U15s before you go on to the senior game!

Best of luck to the U15 hurlers this Sunday as they go in to their first Division 1 Top 4 play off, a great achievement to get to Division 1, stay there and finish so highly, the era of the dual play still exists!!
