Syls man on the Walker Cup Team
An article by Mel Mc Intyre October 2010
Paul plays for our U15 footballers and hurlers and has played for Dublin U14 in the Tony Forrestal and for the very successful Dublin North Schools who defeated St Kierans and Kilkenny CBS to win the Leinster U15 Colleges this year . . . and he wears an Offaly shirt at training , what a guy!
An article by Mel Mc Intyre June 2016 - Paul McBride just pipped in British Amateur Open at the R&A
Wow, what an pity, won the quarter final this morning 2 and 1, down by two with two to play in the semi-final, leveled at 18, level at 19, lost by one shot on the 20th. Obviously another serious Irish golfing prospect and the pride of Malahide. Paul played football and hurling (and often seem sporting his Ui Fhaile shirt) with Syls and Scoil Iosa on the same team as Michael Shiels, Jack Hazely, Eoghan Hammill, Collie Byrne et al, managed by his dad Dave and Fergus Byrne over the years. Dave is coaching our Inter hurlers at the moment also. Congratulations Paul and Dave and Trish, wonderful achievement and obviously plenty more to come. A win at the Open would have qualified Paul for the Masters at Agusta which I hear he parr'ed recently.

Great to see Paul wearing the green and blue of syls in the photos.
I see Paul has helped Rory perfect this hurling grip, Down hurlers could use his talent.
