Seniors leave it behind them

AFL1 St Sylvesters 0-10 Parnells 2-05 Disappointing loss in a game we dominated for about 50 minutes but didn't take enough scores. We were leading by two and still looking comfortable when Conor Mortimer earned a penalty that was well executed. We traded points but missed a couple of opportunities to equalise .It was a lovely evening with a big crowd but a pity to have lost a good lively game. Good to see Dave Galvin back in action after a long layoff.

Junior Bs lose out in extra time

JFC D QF St Sylvesters 1-09 St Oliver Plunkets ER 1-13 AET.Disappointing result in a game we looked like winning for long periods but we just didn't take our chances when we were in control and paid the price late in the game when Plunkets fresh legs off the bench seemed to make the difference.

Junior As reach C'ship Final

JFC B SF St Sylvesters 1-12 Robert Emmets 0-11 Congratulations to the Junior A team on a fine semi final win over a nice looking Emmets team in Broomfield. We struggled early on and trailed 4 to 2 but a few changes just before the break yielded a good Kev O'Flynn goal and a few points and this knocked Emmets back. We dominated for a long while in the second half before a late Emmets charge made us concentrate till the end.

Seniors lose at Glenalbyn

AFL1 Kilmacud Crokes 0-16 St Sylvesters 0-14 Never out of it but always a couple of points off the pace on Saturday evening away to Crokes. We were very tight on our panel and didn't have the backup late in the game to make the push for the win. We did score plenty of good points, Jockser, Eoin Fanning, Niall, Alan Foy all contributing but the few goal chances we spurned in the first half were probably the missed chance to win.

Inters lost to Finbars

AFL3 St Sylvesters 1-09 St Finbars 1-15 A much depleted Inter team, relying on five minors, put up a game effort against the more mature Finbars but couldn't get through for the goals we needed late in the game.

Seniors lose to Maurs in lively game

AFL1 We lost by 4 points I think in a high scoring game. Disappointing to lose a very open competitive game against a Maurs team that are pushing hard to make the league play-offs. The lead changed hands a few times and we looked the stronger team in the first half but didn't convert enough in scores. Maurs upped the pace in the second half and a couple of goals gave them a good lead going into the final stages.

Junior B reach C'ship QF

Our Junior B's advanced to the Q/F of the Junior D Championship with an impressive 2-22 to 0-03 win away at Naomh Barrog. Andrew Mc Donnell and Brian Danagher are doing a great job this year at the helm, even though they are both still playing themselves. . There is fantastic spirit in the team and they are playing a lovely brand of direct football.

Seniors good win away to Boden

AFL1 Ballyboden Et Endas 0-01 St Sylvesters 1-15 Good response to last weeks setback, Sweeney, Micháel, Foy, Gavin all in top form, defensively solid and won plenty of ball in the middle. Dominic got a bad belt (not sinister) and left in an ambulance, hopefully just a precaution, we wish him well.

Dan McEvoy leads Junior As to C'ship semi-final

Junior A's are into the semi final of Junior B Championship after a hard fought win in Westmanstown beating Garda 1-15 to 0-10. One of many star performers on the night was Daniel Mc Evoy who contributed 1-09. Score of the night went to Reuben Kirrane, playing at corner back, who got onto the end of a move which started deep in our own half to tap over from 14 Yards.

Late showing not enough in VdeP final

VdeP Cup Final Ballymun Kickhams 1-12 St Sylvesters 1-09 A good late surge was not enough to regain the Vincent de Paul Cup from Ballymun in a lively final at Pairc Cicaem. Playing with the wind in the first half we were not as clinical as the Mun and went in six points down at the break, Michael and Eoin our most successful forwards. Mike was a little isolated as we played too deep to be dangerous. The second half was a different story, we upped the pace and drove forward in a much more determined fashion.

Seniors continue good run

AFL1 Another impressive win over Plunkets in Broomfield on an absolutely beautiful evening. Again an impressive half back line of Gavin, Beano and Collie Mc backed up Shane and Jockser in the middle which formed the basis for the win. We moved the ball quickly up the field, especially in the first half into a light wind, and Michael, Eoin Fannngand Gary picked off points to lead nine to two at the break.

Seniors win over Vincents in VdeP

I think about a five point win in a lively game which qualifies us to play Ballymun in the Final yet again. Gavin McArdle working his way back to forrm after a long layoff, Collie Mc, Beano and Conor Ryan a solid half back line, Micháel the pick of the forwards with some lovely points, Fionn masquerading as a dual star corner forward was also on target as he was last evening in the hurling.. We have had a nice run of wins after looking quite shaky a few months ago. Hard to read too much into it of course but more right than wrong.

Seniors look strong at the Naul

SFC R1 St Sylvesters 1-09 St Maurs 0-09 Very important win for us given the slow start to the season. From start to finish we were by far the better team and and, for the first time this year displayed some of the strength and drive of previous years although we did waste a lot of chances. We beat a team who sit at the top of AFL1 and we are now eagerly looking forward.

Inters over tricky Ballymun hurdle

IFC St Sylvesters 1-13 Ballymun Kickhams 1-09 Closer than it needed to be in the end but we were always in control against Joe Boynes Ballymun. Jack was the standout player on the filed but there were plenty of impressive displays by Conor Colclough, Conor Ryan, a very swift John Peacock, Brian McCarthy and Mark Finnerty up front.

Seniors go down to Judes

AFL1 St Sudes 3-14 St Sylvesters 2-06 Well beaten is the fairest assessment, Judes were confident and efficient especially in their point scoring, we started well but became hesitant and lacking in confidence as the game progressed. Some good displays, Ross seems to have recovered his form, Shane made many good catches, John Peacock looked at home at corner back, nice to welcome back Rob Wallace after a bad injury at Maurs last year, Mark Finnerty and Brian McCarthy both looked lively when introduced as second half substitutes.

Impressive Junior Football win

JFC C St Maurs 0-07 St Sylvesters 0-13 A tough Championship game away to Maurs, it took us a long time to get to grips with a very determined Maurs outfit who started well and raced into a three point lead. Dan and Peter got to grips in the middle and our fast forwards, Kevin Casey, Dylan and Paul Connolly, Eoin Sweeney knocked over a few points and we went in even at the break after facing a strong breeze.

Minors win over Whitehall

MFL2 St Sylvesters 3-10 Whitehall Colmcille 1-13 (at least I think we won by 3). A somewhat laboured win in a game we really should have put away a lot easier. It was good to win however as we lost a similar effort at Skerries on Wednesday. There is a lot of football in this team and we will be looking forward to some more forceful displays after the Leaving.
