Syls Ladies Section - Take a Bow!

The Jackies put in the performance of their lives and were extremely unlucky to lose by a point to a Cork team winning their fifth All Ireland title in a row. If only we could get this performance out of our footballers and hurlers, we would be top of the world in boith codes. Special congratulations to our own Sinead Aherne and her Naomh Marnóg colleagues Denise Masterson and Cliodhna O'Connor. You did us all proud girls. And at Broomfield on Saturday the Syls and Nmh Marnóg ladies again surpassed themselves with another excellent All Ireland 7's. Not to be forgotten are the Gaelic4Mothers from Syls who graced Croke Park and the legions of supporters who also did Dublin proud.

Dublin 2-14 Monaghan 1-15 - The Jackies left it late to overcome a very determined Monaghan outfit in what proved to be a thriller of a contest in the closing minutes. Dublin vs Mayo; Sun 16th August 2009. Nicole starred in the drawn game and again in the replay when Dublin produced an excellent battling display to overcome a resilient Mayo team at Kiltoom. Sweeney pips Aherne for Dublin honour

Hearty congratulations to Gary Sweeney on being awarded Dublin GAA player of the month for July 09. Ironically he pipped our own Sinead Aherne who also put in a fabulous display in the Ladies Final. Since he was a young lad Sweeney has displayed great skill and football intelligence and has an ability to carry the ball at speed while surveying the field around him, a skill possessed by the likes of the Gooch, Alan Brogan and Declan O'Sullivan.

Weekend roundup - Sigerson slips from Coughlan's grasp

Hard luck to John and Niall Coughlan and to Collie McIntyre who played for DIT in the Sigerson Cup Final on Saturday, losing to Cork IT on their home ground. Sounds like Niall's thrusty left foot was in action again.
