U15 girls Div 1 Shield Final v na Fianna

Very proud of the girls last Saturday who lost a real cracking final by one point to Na Fianna after coming back from 8 points down at one stage and missing 4 starters ( thanks to Aoife, Caoimhe and Leah from U14s for stepping up to fill gap ) - and what a touch of real class from Na Fianna coach for taking off one of their players when one of ours got sin binned for what he felt was a very harsh call - well done Derek and congrats to your girls they are a credit to you.

Congratulations to the Syls Gaelic4Mothers team back in the National Blitz which we co-hosted again this year with neighbours Naomh Marnóg. Maybe Dee or Keith can tell us a little more about this greatest of sports days. If you've never seen G4M take a look at the attached video, what a movement. Peter sent a link to some brilliant pictures and also said that Croke Park said 'Syls were the best supported and had the best fun vibe for the day. The atmosphere around the slys pitch was electric'

Dubs beat Mayo with a last kick point from Sinead Aherne

Dublin just about made it into the All Ireland Ladies Football final at Breffni Park on Saturday, thanks to a last kick of the game free converted from distance and a difficult angle by player of the match Sinead Aherne. After an opening twenty minutes dominated by Dublin, who led at that stage by 8 points, they went into defensive mode for the last 10 minutes of the half and led by just 6 points at half time.

The Same Struggle But A Very Different Reward - The Life Of A Female GAA Player

Winter training is the toughest: wind, rain, mud. MAS (Maximum Aerobic Speed) runs until every muscle burns. Work during the day. Gym sessions after, deadlifts, pull-ups, press-ups, squat jumps, burpees and mountain climbers past the burn. Pushing bodies through exhaustion for passion and pride. It's worth it on game day, travelling with the team, the satisfaction of putting on the county jersey, representing your county, getting in the zone, surrounded by teammates running out to...

Dublin make Ladies semifinal in great tussle with Donegal. Syls girls do well.

Dublin Ladies got a scare in the All Ireland quarter final v Donegal and, while Donegal certainly put it up to Dublin, the Dubs were largely responsible for the predicament they found themselves in. They should have been well ahead at half time but instead were a goal behind, due mainly to lots of shocking passing errors and a few bad shooting misses as well as conceding a soft goal through a mix-up between full back and keeper. In the end, they won 1-13 to 2-7.

Dublin minors emerged convincing winners over Westmeath on Sunday last in Clane. The final score line of 6.22 to 4.9 belies the resurgence of Meath in the final ten minutes of normal time. With ten minutes remaining the Jackies lead by twelve points and were coasting. Meath had other ideas and deservedly forced extra time.

U14 girls win in the heat of FoxCab

Syls u-14 Girls Vs. Foxrock/Cabinteely Duel in the Sun We conceded a few early scores in this game, played on a scorching hot day on the hard ground of FoxCab’s ground in Kilboggett Park However, despite the heat, our girls stuck to their task throughout the first half and remained competitive in what was turning out to be quite a physical and challenging game in which the referee was kept busy. There were quite a few stoppages in play, and some injuries, though, happily, none of these turned out to be serious
