Great Wins For Syls Minor Men At Home & Away
Syls v Skerries Harps Report:
Due to holidays both teams were not at their strongest but that has given us a great opportunity to give meaningful game time to the full panel. Indeed we managed to minor debuts to U16 starlets Ben Meehan and James O’Sullivan, Sean Downey also a 16 continued in goal. As always Sean Guiden punishes every foul from 50 meters in, scoring 3 monster 45s as well. A good spread of scorers with Kieran O’Donnell (1-1), Danny Taaffe, Mick Shalloe, Sean Gibson and our marauding half backs Ben Gaynor, Josh Bannon and Sean Mulvey also keeping the scorer busy. Skerries forwards played with plenty of movement and pace and our backs eventually got on top, Tom Bennett, Mark Kavanagh and Conn Gibson neutralising their men. Pearse Clyne and Sean Murphy put in huge shifts but Daragh McLoughney was all action and physicality at midfield, ruling the skies and pushing us forward. In our opinion there is no better midfielder in Dublin minor football. Next week will have another evolution of the squad with more holidays planned but that’s another opportunity to build our panel.
