Two Seans close out League Title win in Minor Footballers

MFL2 League Final St Sylvesters 3-08 Lucan Sarsfields 2-07 A deserved league title for this team after a an excellent four point win over an equally impressive and competitive Lucan. Smashing hard hitting game. A late solo goal from substitute Sean Daly gave us a five point cushion and an even later point blank save by Sean O'Connor helped us seal the win.

Minor Footballers into Div2 playoff

MFL2 I didn't get the score but we won well over Whitehall in Broomfield this morning to qualify fo rthe playoffs of Div2 of the Minor Football League. Still some silverware to play for , semi final next week hopefully - I think against RT Lusk who gave us a good hiding a few months ago.

Minor As win at Boden but fail to qualify

MFC A Gr1 An excellent six point win away to Ballyboden wasn't enough to see us qualify for the semi finals as Clontarf beat Crokes to take the second spot. Pity really as this team, operating in Div2 of the league, were really taking shape and well justified the decision to push for A Championship participation.

Minor hurlers pipped by Boden in C'ship Final

MHC D Final Ballyboden St Endas 3-08 St Sylvesters 1-11 A late Ballyboden goal gave them the win in a very entertaining game. Syls settled after a slow sart and were tied 1-06 each at the break. We dominated the second half but poor shooting and a great display from the Boden keeper yielded just five points. Two late goas pegged us back and gave them the win. Lovely morning at Trinity Gaels and a great Syls crowd. Congratulations on a great season..

MHC D Castlenock 1-05 St Sylvesters 2-11 Great performance by the Team today .Strong defensive performance into the a gale in the first half kept the Castleknock scoring to just 4pts and meant Syl's only had a one 1 point deficit at the turnaround . Two great goals in the first 5 of the 2nd half settled the team and they went on to comfortably win 2-11 to 1-5 . Congrats to all the lads and to the management, Jimmy Denneher and John Cross

Minor B Hurlers advance to the Championship Semi Final

MHC D Group 2 Ballyboden 2-14 St Sylvesters 2-4 The Minor B hurlers faced a strong looking Ballyboden side out in Ballycullen in the D Championship on Sunday morning. It was a very tight and close fought encounter for most of the match but we ran out of steam against the wind in the last quarter and got blitzed by 2 late goals and a few points. Despite this we still qualified out of the group on points difference and so get to do it all over again, this time at home v Ballyboden in the Semi Final on Oct 16th.

Minor Hurlers tough win at Finbarrs

Minor Hurlers tough win at Finbarrs

MFC B Naomh Fionnbarra 3-10 St Sylvesters 4-14 Another great Minor performance winning away to a very good Finbarrs. We opened with a five point lead but Finbarrs came back with two goals and a few points. We stuck to the task, I didn't see the second half but I heard Cooney hit 3-03 from play and the half I did see was excekllent from bothh sides. Fingallians and Marnóg drew so a win over Marnógs will see us into the semifinal although I'm sure our neighbours will not be holding the door open for us.

Great fight from Minors against Clontarf

Great fight from Minors against Clontarf

MHF A St Sylvesters 4-18 Clontarf 5-15 We led by a point at the death but Clontarf scraped an equaliser and, for the second week in a row we drew in the Championship from a winning position althoug, yet again, a draw was not an unfair result. Clontarf are top of Div1 so it was a bit of a step up for our lads but they showed the best fight I have seem from a Sylvesters in a long while and I'm now looking forward to a few more crackers against Boden and Crokes. There were some great displays but I'll leave it to one of the lads to report if they have a chance.

Minor Hurlers draw with Fingallians

Minor Hurlers draw with Fingallians

MHC-B: Syls 1-15 Fingallions 1-15 Smashing game of hurling, a credit to both teams and a draw a fair result. Syls could have won it having recovered from a slow start and held a three point lead for much of the second half but a late Fins goal put them ahead. We recovered with a Sean Graham point and a lead from Danial Murphy but a good Fins point pegged us back at the death.

Minor Hurlers come up short at Oldtown

MHL5 League Final Wild Geese 1-14 St Sylvesters 2-06 We lost by five points after a fine competitive game to Wild Geese. Syls started well with two excellent early goals from Sean Drumm but the home side picked away at us, their numbers 8 and 12 hitting some excellent points, Brian Murray and Gavin Hydes responding for us. We lost Murray to injury at half time, he looked very uncomfortable and I believe he went for treatment so hope he is ok. That knocked us back a little in the second half but stayed within three points until the last few minutes. Great achievement fielding a second competitive hurling team. Congrats to Wild Geese, they are really pushing hurling in Fingal and great credit to them,

Minor A hurlers win again - share top spot

MHL2 I don't see the score posted but I believe we won by a single point over Isles of the Sea (Scoil Ui Conaill and Clanna Gael Fontenoy). The first half had some excellent hurling from both sides and it was great to see some of the minor footballers show up to ensure we had a strong side as it's often hard to field at this time of year.

Both Minor Hurling teams had good wins

MHL D2 St Finbars 3-08 St Sylvesters 4-17 Great win away in the Boggies against a Finbars team that never gave up but each time they scored we went straight down and responded. The defense again were great, Liam Foley put his body on the line in goals, Philip held a big lively full forward, Ciaran and Barry in the corners very tught and brave, Eamon had a great battle with the opposing centre forward. Up front Luke Hughes gave a class display of point scoring and Sean Graham also very impressive. I heard the B team had a single point win at Ballyboden and sit third in the table, great stuff lads.
