The teams were evenly matched through the first half with players on both sides getting to grips with the soft underfoot conditions. U13 Girls start season with a great display against Ballinteer St Johns B

St. Sylvesters v Ballinteer St Johns B on 4 Mar 2017 St Sylvesters were to play BSJ on March 4th. Poor weather changed the fixture from Broomfield to Ballinteeer Community School. St Sylvesters lost the toss and had to play against the elements. At the start, the St Sylvesters girls were under serious pressure which eventually led to a BSJ score. The St Sylvesters girls rallied and the St Sylvesters defense and midfield started to dominate and produce good ball, from which the forwards scored. At half time, St Sylvesters lead 3-5 to 0 – 1.

The girls travelled to O’Tooles on a lovely evening for football. With no training for two weeks the girls were slow in getting to the pace of the game. The girls struggled with the pace and accuracy of the O’Toole girls. As the half progressed the girls dug deep to register a number of scores.

Girls Mini All-Ireland Finals at Broomfield June 12th 2016

Even the sun came out to play at Broomfield last Sunday as Syl’s younger girls battled it out for All-Ireland honours in glorious summer conditions. More than 60 girls, divided into 6 county teams, took part in the competition on Sunday, preliminary rounds having taken place on the two previous Wednesdays. Each team was cheered on enthusiastically by large numbers of proud parents, family and friends.

Thursday 12th May Broomfield, the sun shone but it was the quality of football that kept the crowd warm. Malahide v Skerries a clash that reminded some of the spectators of the great Dubs and Kerry clashes of the 80s. Malahide were still smarting from their semi final defeat to Clontarf by the narrowest of margins and were determined to right some wrongs. And the Malahide girls came roaring out of the blocks with some fine score taking on show and the tackle count soaring we took a 1 4 to 2 point lead into half time.

St Sylvesters v Westmanstown Gaels 30 Apr 2016. On Saturday, St Sylvesters U12 girls travelled to Westmanstown Gaels. After the defeat to Westmanstown Gaels in March the team did not want a repeat performance. Syls won the toss and elected to play with the wind and slope. From the start, Syls midfield and defence were dominant and did not give the Westmanstown Gaels girls room to play. Syls forwards gave a display in how to take scores.

St. Sylvesters v St. Monicas 27 Feb 2016 St. Sylvesters U12 girls travelled to Edenmore to play St. Monicas. This was their first game of the season. 16 players were available to play. St Monicas had 15 players so a 15 aside game was played. The conditions were excellent for playing football. St Sylvesters had a great game. The girls played as a team and created many chances which were ably taken.

U12 Girls provided a fabulous exhibition of football against St. Finbarrs

St. Sylvesters U12 girls had a break for a few weeks due to opposition unable to field and unplayable pitches. The girls travelled to St. Finbarrs in John Paul Park, Ashtown on Saturday. The day was bright and dry with conditions ideal for good football. After the defeat to Westmanstown Gaels, the girls put a lot of hard work in at training. This work paid off handsomely. The girls gave an exhibition of how football should be played.

U9 Girls Match Report 21 Apr 2013

St Sylvesters played an U9 girls blitz last Sunday. Foxrock/Cabinteely provided the opposition. With the aid of two girls from Foxrock/Cabinteely ,St Sylvesters provided two teams. The teams captained by Abby McCabe and Gemma Devally. Though the morning started out very damp, the matches were played in beautiful sunshine to the delight of all. Abby's team registered a loss and a win, Gemma's team registered a loss and a draw. The games were highly entertaining and a good time was had by all. Our next match is against Ballyboden St Enda's and St Judes on Sunday 28th at 10:00.
