Syls support Dublin Hurlers

Anthony organised a table of 10 (of course, Anthony made it an even eleven) at the Friends of Dublin Hurling Awards night in the Grand last Friday. Congrats to Fintan Walsh for the Hall of Fame award (a mainstay of Dublin Hurling since God was a boy) and Joe Boland for Player ofthe Year. Pat Fanning accepted the Junior School award on behalf of Joeys of Fairview. Seems Pat gives every single pupil a hurley and helmet and has hurling every day at 8.00am - guys like this would inspire you. And, then to cap it all I see that David Keogh is playing n the senior hurling trials. Now, wouldn't that be a great boost for hurling at Syls.

To underline the success of our ladies football section the stars of the week were the under 12 girls who won their Championship Final. The under 11 girls put in a brilliant performance in their Championship Final but didn’t get the win. Brian Sullivan and his loyal team deserve great credit for the huge amount of work and organisation that has led to these great successes.

North Cork clubs hold our interest

Churchtown and Liscarrol GAA clubs in North Cork are deep in negotiations about some sort of an amalgamation. They say the players are mostly in favour but I hear the deal is not yet done. Word has it there has only been one wedding between the parishes in 50 years and even that hasn't been too rosy. The Malahide branch of the Corkman's Association watch with interest. Come on you Boys in Green!
