3rd Team Stretch Unbeaten Run to 13 Games.

The third team defeated Thomas Davis in AFL 7 on Friday evening in Broomfield to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions with their last defeat coming way back on 29/03. For the first twenty minutes of Friday’s game however it look liked the number 13 was going to be an unlucky one as Thomas Davis raced into a 4 point lead and were looking like they were going to establish a very healthy half time lead. With 10 minutes to go in the first half we got our first score of the half and this seemed to settle the team down.

St. Sylvester’s 3-10 Thomas Davis 0-09.

Following that point Johnny Conway scored the first of his 3 goals on the night when the Thomas Davis keeper could only palm a save into the path of the on rushing forward who calmly knocked it to the net. This signaled a rush of points that saw us go in 1 point up at the half when 5 minutes earlier we looked like being behind.

The game was effectively ended as a contest when star full forward Johnny Conway grabbed his second goal straight after the restart to but four points between the teams. We never looked back from there with Peter O’Byrne controlling mid-field and Ciaran McArdle performing a superb man marking on the Davis’s star center half forward. John Conway completed his hat trick late on with another well taken goal to take his personal tally for the evening to 3-02.  A special mention must go to Declan Markey who celebrated his birthday on Friday evening with another excellent display.

The next fixture for the third team is against Robert Emmett’s in Broomfield on Tuesday 21/07 at 7:45pm Please make sure to get up and watch them in action.
