Adult Girls Beat Lucan Sarsfields in Championship
Syls Girls travelled to Lucan on Wednesday evening for the first round of the championship and came away with a hard fought victory.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half we found it difficult to get into the opposition's half early on. We got a breakaway goal through Niamh Lawlor but then conceded 1-3 without response. Our defence of Michele, Niamh G and Moyno started to get to grips with the wave of attacks coming at them which was the platform for 3 points back. Just before the break Kim was fouled as she went at goal and Sinead Aherne converted the penalty to give us a goal lead at the break.
The half-time instructions were to keep the high tempo
and work rate for the start of the second half and that's what we got. Early
points through Macker, Diane & Sinead pulled us away and a final goal by
Sinead was the nail in the coffin. Super performances from all the girls and the
final score was 3-7 to 1-4
Next up is Thomas Davis in Broomfield next Wednesday at
7.30pm which promises to be a cracker.
