Aherne wins 2011 Golden Boot Award

Dublin’s Sinead Aherne has been announced as the 2011 Sunday Independent / PUMA Golden Boot winner for 2011.

 

The Malahide star amassed a total of 2g 13pts in the 2011 campaign which was a fair achievement with Dublin having exited the championship at the quarter final stage following their one point defeat to Cork.


 

 All Ireland finalists Caitriona McConnell from Monaghan was runner up to Aherne with 1g 13pts while Kerry’s Louise Ní Mhuirceartaigh was placed third with her tally of 3g 6pts.

 Meanwhile Aine Tighe of Leitrim took the Intermediate crown with Lucy Mulhall of Wicklow the junior winner.

ll receive a specially commissioned trophy and a supply of leisure and sportswear from PUMA for their efforts.

Sinead will be awarded her prize next Tuesday at a special lunch in Croke Park and pictures from the award ceremony will feature in that weekends edition of the Sundays Independent.
