AJ and Dan to the fore as U12s win well at Finglas

U12F Erins Isles 1-3 St. Sylvesters 5-12 Syls U12As bounced back from their defeat to St. Vincents in impressive fashion against Erin’s Isle in Finglas last week. In a new look attack featuring regular defenders Daniel Deneher and Osian Dullaghan, the Syls boys were quick out of the traps, racking up 3 points before Erins could muster a shot on target. The first two of these were poached by Daniel, clearly relishing his new role further up the field. Phelim Butler quickly added a point and a goal either side of a goal from the home side. Deneher then added a goal to his tally as the Malahide boys built up a comfortable half time lead of 3-8 to 1-1, the third goal coming courtesy of a well placed shot from AJ McCabe.

The home side started the second half in lively fashion, pinning Syls in their own half for the first 10 minutes. However, they were well contained by a tight defensive display, with Ben O’Neill and Josh Rheinhart doing a good impression of the irresistible force and the immovable object, ably assisted by the tenacious Aaron Lynch. Meanwhile, the Syls attack was on form and they looked like scoring with every foray into the Erin’s half. AJ added another 1-1 to his tally while four more scores were shared by the rest of the forward line. The game ended in a comfortable win for Syls, 5-12 to 1-3.
