Another impressive win for Inters

AFL3 St Sylvesters 3-09 St Finbarrs 4-03 Our Intermediate footballers rounded off a very productive week with a hard fought 3pt win over a very strong Naomh Fionnbarra side on Saturday evening. A win that has us right in contention, only 2 points behind table toppers Clontarf, at the half way stage in the competition.

Unlike the game on Wednesday in was the opponents who got a goal inside the first minute and this was to set the tone for the 60 minutes to come. We were working hard while not quite reaching the levels of performance that we had achieved 72 hour earlier and a series of goals conceded at key times of the game ensured that we were made to fight right to the end ensure we came put on top.

Philly Daly was the man to step up and rescue us from what could easily have been 2 pts dropped. His 2-01 from three shots and his general work rate around the forward line was a real plus. Alan Sexton and Hacker also put in strong performances in the half forward line. Kevin Llynott stood out in the second half having come on as a sub at half time and while Brian McCarthy have a very storng last 20 minutes and it was his expertly converted penalty that was ultimately the difference between the two sides. In defence Alan Morris, Max Cassidy and Danny Geenan all put in very strong performances.
