Brave hurlers pipped at the post

Our Junior Hurlers lost this D Championship semi final is a cruel fashion, going behind for the first time with the last puck. Pity, there was a great bunch of lads over at Brigids and they had to hang around for an hour waiting for the Ref. We got out of the blocks well and looked far the better team for a long while but . .

Junior D Hurling Championship Semi-final St Judes 2-11, St Sylvesters 2-10

We got off to a great start and were 2-4 to 0-2 up on 20 minutes but slowly Judes got back into the game and were only a goal down by half time. The second half was tight all through and cruelly a last minute free from well outfield went to an unmarked Judes player about 25 metres out and he pointed to put them ahead for the only time in the game. A disappointing end to a brave championship run and a good Syls crowd was there to give support. Paul Christie and Ciaran Murray had good games and of the subs used Johnny Conway was impressive. Scorers Niall O Connor (0-6, 5f), Declan Tolster (0-3, all frees) Claude Scully and Kieran Falvey (1-0 each), Padraig Kennedy (0-1)
