Daly goal seals win for seniors

AFL1 St Sylvesters 1-09 Parnells 1-06 No messing about , this was a tight tough league game against a very strong Parnells and we stood up to it well for a very encouraging win. Maybe I haven't seen enough senior football recently but I thought the pace and intensity were near championship level, pretty much every ball was keenly contested and there were some smashing scores from both sides. We led five point to four at half time after a pretty even first half although we did spurn a good goal chance just at the break.

Parnells took over for a little while and a point and a great solo goal by their number eleven looked ominous for us. Points from Aiden, Michael and Nigel brought us level. Conor Daly had been on the ball and in the wars a lot and he took responsibility taking on three backs along the end line beating Cluxon from an impossible angle for a marvelous goal. Campers added another point for what I thought was a four point lead (miss counted somewhere) and Parnells finished going for goal off a 13  mtr free which we blocked and cleared to the delight of a big home crowd.

Great evening, great crowd  boosted by the Street Legues on the top field.

Good luck to Gary Sweeney and Fionn Carney in the All Ireland U21 Final against Roscommon on Saturday in Tullamore.
