Darren Clarke - nice guy, great player

After five years helping to make Syls one of the top teams in Dublin Darren has built his house in his native Ardee and transferred back to the Wee County. It has been a pleasure to watch him play football and we wish the very best for Darren, his family and for his football career in Louth.

A note from Gabriel

  • Darren joined Syls in 08 when he was living & working in Dublin.
  • He has given us 5 distinguished seasons but is now returning to his home club St Marys, Ardee where he has recently built a new house & has moved there to live.
  • Darren has played a hugely influential role in the rise of Syls to our current status as one of the top Senior Football teams in Dublin.
  • Honours won are a Div 1 League title, a Senior B Championship and 2 St V De Paul Cups, also Senior Footballer of the Year in 09.
  • Darrens leadership and positive influence in the camp is also reflected in him being Senior captain for the past 2 seasons.

We are all sad to see Darren depart Sylvesters, he has been a terrific player and a hugely popular figure over the past 5 years. In that time Syls have developed into one of the top Senior Football powers in Dublin football, winning 4 Senior competitions including a 1st ever AFL1 title with the club. Everyone connected with St Sylvesters will be sad to see Darren leave but he carries the best wishes of everyone in Syls for the future.
