Following last night Adult Games Meeting we have agreed to proceed with the Dressing Rooms and Pitches general clean up. Attached is a draft proposal of some of the work that has to be done. In order to arrange the project I will need the names of managers who are willing to help out on the day and take a work group for a particular task. I also need the names of players that are willing to attend next Saturday and give a hand with the various jobs. Can you come back to me with volunteers in the next few days and I will arrange them in groups for the various tasks to be done. Enquiries to Joe Boyne at joe.boyne @ electricireland.ie

After the event the club has promised (I hope) to provide some refreshments for everybody who helped out. In addition to getting this work done it will be a great opportunity for all players to get together for some craic also. If anyone can provide some refreshments in the form of Soup; Sandwiches; Drinks during the day it would be greatly appreciated. Please come back to me with names, when I get them I will arrange a meeting with you next Tuesday to agree the programme for the day.

Sylvester’s Dressing Room Project

Background

Following a meeting with the adult players it was agreed that because of the poor state of the dressing rooms and the general training facilities that they were prepared to offer their time and skills into cleaning, tidying, painting and general repairing the facilities.

A meeting was then held with the management of the Seniors, Intermediates, Juniors and Ladies teams to agree on a programme of work and to examine a suitable date to get this work done. At the meeting the following items were identified as priority;

Entrance: Clean up the area, remove vending machine and other equipment ready for transport to the dump. It was suggested that Liam Foley may assist with the removals. Install two lights outside the building to bring more light to the surrounding area. Paint walls and floor area and place a new sweating bench in the area to facilitate the removal of wet and dirty playing gear.

Fit two outside taps for water and washing

Dressing Rooms;

Wash and clean the 4 dressing rooms, paint the walls ceilings and floors.

Referees Room:

Wash and clean the referees’ room and paint the walls, ceiling and floor

Kitchen:

Wash and clean the kitchen and paint the walls, ceiling and floor. Repair the Taps

Corridors:

Wash and clean the halls and paint the walls, ceiling and floors.

Gym:

Wash and clean the gym and paint the walls, ceiling and replace the floor carpet tiles

Because the roof is leaking Anthony Keogh has agree to have a look at it and spec the job. As this is a specialist job it is requires skilled people to fix it.

The outside area:

Tidy up and clear away all dirt and useless equipment lying around the building and leave ready for transport to the dump.

Training Area:

Cut back on overgrown vegetation and do a general tidy up of the facilities.

Kit Room

Wash, clean and paint the walls, ceiling

The roof is leaking and in a general state of disrepair, this will require an expertise beyond what the players and managers can deliver. At the meeting Shane Cowley agreed to talk to Anthony Keogh about the roof, this has been done and Anthony will report on the extent of the work required. Shane also agreed to contact Rob Fitzpatrick to advice on the amount of paint required and Rob has agreed to assist in this area. The painting of the facility give us an opportunity to brand it in the Sylvester’s colors so we are suggesting that we paint the walls white or cream, the floors green and the wooden strip for hanging jerseys on in blue.
There are a number of technically qualified players and they have agreed to have a look at cleaning the light fittings and repairing any that are broken. They will also look at the showers to see if they can solve the problem we are experiencing presently.

We are proposing to carry out this job on Saturday 16th of March, as this is the only weekend free in the coming weeks. We can provide up to 60 players on site willing and ready to carry out this task.

If the club is agreeable we require paint, brushes, rollers and any repair items to be supplied. We would also ask that on completion of this task, the workers be invited back to the club for 2 or 3 drinks and some finger food. This will add to the occasion and help with further heightening the team spirit within the club.
