Fingal Hurling - another good year

Dublin hurling is making great strides these days at juvenile, colleges, underage and senior level. Entering Fingal in the National Hurling League and Nicky Rackard Cup has been another fine development and St Sylvesters are proud to be part of it. Congratulations to our County Board on their vsiion and to Danny O'Connor, Hillary Murray-Hession, Alan Morris, Andrew Richardson and Conor McCafferty in particular for another successful season of Fingal Hurling.

Fingal played London In Ruislip last Saturday in the Nicky Rackard Cup Semi final. We lost to tournament favourites London (whose team featured a host of ex inter county players from Cork, Kilkenny, Galway no less..) by 1.19 to 2.08 having led by 2 points at half time. We had four Sylvesters players involved, Hillary started in goal while Conor Mc Cafferty, Andrew Richardson and Alan Morris were on bench. Conor was ruled out by injury and Richie got on for last 10 mins.

It was the semi final of an All Ireland Comp and its great for young lads like Alan and Richie to be involved. Thats two years in a row we have got to the semi's having lost last year to winners Sligo....it was another progressive year for this Fingal Team who are now only 2 years in existence and having competed for first time in NHL,  coming second in NHL3B.

Much credit is due to the management team of Denis Murphy (Skerries ex Crumlin), Derry Murphy (Fingallians) and Peter Conway (St.Maur's Rush).

Well done to Hillary, Alan, Conor and Richie who all featured prominintly during both competitions. It is due recognition to our hurling section and to Ray Murphy and Paudie Duffy for the work they are putting in.

Hillary promised some pictures from the London Night Clubs . . come on Hillary, prove that the  hurlers can paint the town!!
