Four teams U12 all doing well

The Under 12 footballers had a busy weekend fielding 4 teams in the second round of fixtures in the league. It is a credit to all the players that we are managing to field 4 teams and do so to a high standard.

The A team who are playing in Division 1 played Skerries in Bridgefield. Through last minute injury and illness we only had 12 players for the 13 a side game with 4 already having just finished playing a foreign sport so we knew we were going to have to battle hard. Sean Guiden put on a display in midfield and despite the odd lapse we turned at half time, having put in our best display of the year, 18 points up. The second half was a tenser affair as Skerries came back at us and we started to run out of steam. However a Shane O'Neill goal 10 minutes in to the second half following a great run from Mr Perpetual Motion, Daragh McLoughney, gave us a cushion and we ran out 9 point winners.

The B team play in Division 3 and made the short trip to Drumnigh to take on Trinity Gaels A. After going 4 points down early on they regrouped to win by 9 points. Callum Clarke helped himself to a hatful of goals and it was great that our B team put in a brilliant display of football as well as standing up to a god bit of provocation. No step back was taken. This team plays a lovely, flowing brand of football that has seen them go uinbeaten so far through their league despite players being moved up and down to the A team for each game.

The C team played Round Towers of Lusk in Bridgefield and won well also. We owned the ball in the first half despite not putting away our scoring chances and turning at half time we were only 6 points up having had the use of a strong wind. Credit to the players in the second half as they notched the first few scores and pulled away to win by 14 points in the end. Timmy O'Connor, Stephen Brady and Cian Smith were immense in the backs. Joaquin Shinbach and Craig McGrattan bring a new meaning to dynamic wing back play. In midfield Dylan Venner had his best game of the season and was ably abetted by Matthew Brenner who scored 1-1. Up front we were always a treat with Conor Hoyne leading the line and helping himself to a big score. Jojo Thabo had a quiet game by his high standards but still carried a lot of ball. Paul Downey was out in front of his man right from the start and kicked some great scores. The inside line of Sean Curran, Daniel Stone and Conor Mulcahy were a handful all night and created a huge amount of chances. Well done all.

The final game saw our D team travel to Clontarf C and concede a late goal to draw the game. This was a great performance by the team against a strong Clontarf side and while many of the players are new to football, they are beginning to turn in to a good side.

Three wins and a draw is a great return over the 4 games, well done to all.
