Hurlers reach Leinster Junior Final

Leinster Junior hurling semi-final St Sylvester’s 1-11 Greystones 0-9 The match was moved to the all weather pitch in Russell Park. We lead from start to finish with a comfortable 6 to 8 point lead from most of the game. An early goal in the second half left us with a 9 point lead. The Greystone’s second half subs added a bit of bite and a few scores but we responded well and kept the scores ticking over. This was a very good team performance and now we face Edenderry next Sunday in the final. The large troop of supporters was well rewarded today and a full battalion will line up for next weeks Leinster Junior Hurling Final. These are the days we dream about.Pictures from the Evening Herald

Defensively we were solid yet again, threatened a little by frees but Greystones never really broke us down. The wet all weather surface was a little unpredictable and it always seemed like Greystones could score goals but great credit to our defense that we never let them in. Ronan and David Keogh did well in the middle while Mannix made a huge contribution when introduced in the second half. Martin Ormonde contributed most of our scores from frees and Ciaran Falvey scored a marvelous goal just after half time gave us the margin we needed.
