Hurlers secure Intermediate status in a cracker
AHL3 Relegation Playoff St Sylvesters 2-13 Clanna Gael Fontenoy 2-11 Not for the faint hearted, Anthony Dunne blocked the ball onto the crossbar and away to safety in the 7th minute of added time to save our Intermediate status. At least, that's what I believe happened, it was difficult to see in the almost dark Broomfield after a tough game with no quarter asked or given. Pictures by Evan Walsh
First half was tipping along when a goal by Martin Ormand was disallowed due to an altercation in the middle which saw Enda and their number 11 red carded. and Clanns got a point from the throw. Martin caught the next long ball and goaled from an acute angle.
We led by 2-2 about 15 minutes into the second half but Clanns came back strong, led by a point about full time but points from Russy Cleere, Martin Ormond and Casey I think saw us home in the gloomy dusk.
