Impressive senior league win over Judes

A six point win over county finalists St Judes in the first game of AFL1. It was an encouraging display as we were much more in control than the 0-13 to 0-7 scoreline suggests and featured a number of players who had not been regular starters last season.

AFL1 St Sylvesters 0-13 St Judes 0-07

I missed the first two scores (Bennis and Micháel I think) but the third from John Coughlan was a beauty, Eoin Bennis added two more good scores, Micháel got two and Niall Coughlan I think. We led 0-8 to 0-2 at the break.

The second half was a little quieter from our perspective, Judes got an early point and threatened to get a few more but our backline were in great form and were not giving anything away. Dominic was back in goal, Adam Keaney on new Dubs star, Kevin McMenomen, Cian and Airy uncompromising at full and left corner, Dave Galvin, Beano and McGurk were all excellent in the half line. John Coughlan and Ross renewed their dominent partnership in the middle, Campers ever busy at right half and Gary Sweeney linked really well from the left and scored a sweet point in the middle of the half. New signing Jude Sullivan looked bery strong at centre forward and Niall, Benno and Micháel made up an efficient forward line.
