Inters qualify for Loving Cup Final

LOVING CUP SEMI-FINAL: St. Sylvester's 0-13 Naomh Olaf 1-06 Our Intermediate footballers qualified for the semi-final of the Loving Cup with a strong performance against Naomh Olaf on Wednesday evening. With much greater mobility we overcame a game Naomh Olaf in Broomfield but only pulled away in the last 10 minutes.

The visitors got off to the best possible start with goal on their very first attack but that was to be one of only 3 scores they would get in the first half as our lads worked really hard in defence to ensure that Naomh Olaf's chances were few and far between. Up front we were also working hard to make sure that we got back into the game as quickly as possible. 3 points from Brian McCarthy, with Hacker and Alan Sexton also getting in on the scoring act meant that we went in 1pt up at half time. The second half was touch and go for a long time with no more than a point between the sides for most of it. Halfway through the period Olaf's had drawn level at 0-07 to 1-04 and this was the que for Ado Relihan and Kevin Clarke, who had been introduced as subs to  take over. The scored 5 points between them, with Phillip Daly also chipping in with a superb long range effort, in the last quarter of the game to ensure that we finished he stronger and safely secured our place in the final where we will play St. Vincent's in Broomfield at a date to be confirmed.
