. . ar son foireann Naomh Sailbheastar. And so it went 'as gaeilge' as Micháel O'Maoinaigh lifted the U12H Camaint Div 2 Cup for Syls after defeating St Johns Ballinteer at Parnell Park this afternoon. And Mickey had lots more to say for himself . . move over Joe McDonagh, there a new kid in town. John Drumm provided the pictures and Chris Kennedy the report on a great achievement for Syls hurling. Congrats to all the boys who never stopped hurling throughout the Summer. Well done to the lads who coach this team, they're great to watch.

On Saturday Sylvester’s U12 hurlers played in the finals of the Div 2 Camaint having won the Div 1 Shield last year. In the semi-final we were drawn against Finbarr's. The lads started well with some early points by Eamonn Mc Loughney and Luke Hughes and two cut frees from Daniel Murphy. Jamie Kennedy and Eoin Ryan cleared any danger from the back line and Mikey Meaney and Philip Ryan drove forward from the half back line to supply quality ball to the forwards. Daniel Danagher and Eoin Cooney caused all sorts of problems in the forwards and Eoin scored a goal to lead 1-6 to no score at half time.

Early in the second half we were again on top with Bryn Redmond scoring a great point to extend our lead. Such was the dominance of the team we were able to replace the entire starting 11 players and bring on 11 subs for the second half. Ciaran Murphy, Dennis O’Brien, Niall McCann, Johnny Shields and Barry Crosse made a great contribution when they came on and we ran out easy winners by 4-10 to 1-1. We met Ballinteer in the final a repeat of the league decider of last year which we had won. The lads got into it from the start, with some great defending from Eoin, Mikey, Jamie and Philip, combined with Daniel and Eamonn commanding midfield, we finished the half 2-2 to no score. Early in the second half a clearance from Sean Drumm in goal found Mikey who doubled on it to Eamonn who struck the ball to Mark Mc Cormack who again hit it first time to Eoin Cooney who stuck it into the back of the net, a display of first time ground hurling that would make any mentor proud. Alex Wright came on in the back line and made some great clearances.

Sean Drumm in goal had a great game making a fantastic save from point blank range. James Kiernan, Colm Casey, Cathal Manning, Luke Troy came on and ensured we maintained the pressure to come out winners 5-7 to 1-4. The lads went up the steps of the stand to collect the cup and Mikey Meaney as captain for the day may a fantastic speech as gaeilge to the rousing cheers of his team mates, mentors and parents.

Regards

Chris
