Syls Ladies Section - Take a Bow!

The Jackies put in the performance of their lives and were extremely unlucky to lose by a point to a Cork team winning their fifth All Ireland title in a row. If only we could get this performance out of our footballers and hurlers, we would be top of the world in boith codes. Special congratulations to our own Sinead Aherne and her Naomh Marnóg colleagues Denise Masterson and Cliodhna O'Connor. You did us all proud girls. And at Broomfield on Saturday the Syls and Nmh Marnóg ladies again surpassed themselves with another excellent All Ireland 7's. Not to be forgotten are the Gaelic4Mothers from Syls who graced Croke Park and the legions of supporters who also did Dublin proud.

A great all round team effort from the Ladies Section at the weekend. The Roll Call would be too long to mention you all individually but just to say thanks to one and all under the stewardship of Chairperson Brian Sullivan. We kicked off on Saturday by hosting the Ladies 7s
with Naomh Mearnog. We staged the Intermediate Competition and 25 teams fielding 350 players! Awaiting statistics but there were a serious amount of goals and points scored in Broomfield on the day.
On to Sunday and we hired two coach loads to take our underage girls and parents into Croke Park to support the Jackies and our own Sinead Aherne in the All Ireland Final v Cork. Sadly for one and all the Dublin team despite a very brave effort lost out in a very close contest.
That said it was great to see the Syls Gaelic4Mothers team fly the club flag under the tutelage of Declan Lynch in the half time game against Moyle Rovers from Tipperary. We shared the spoils during which Yanni Roiter scored a spectacular point from 25m and trooped up the pitch in celebration to the delight of the Syls support in The Hogan Stand!
Following the game it was back to Church Road where we rounded off the weekend with refreshments for all our supporters followed by 'cupla ceoil' led by Eddie O'Mordha.
Syls ABU!!
