Jnr hurlers win over Liffey Gaels
AHL 6 played Wed 22nd in Castle -- Syls 5-11, Liffey Gaels 0-7. The team bounced back from the disappointment of the championship loss to Parnells last wewek with a good win over Liffey Gaels. Liffey started the scoring and after 15 minutes it was 1-2 to 0-3 for Syls, thanks to the first of Derek Roche's three goals and excellent corner forward play by Shane Mc Shera
As the half wore on, two quick points from Fergus Rooney helped build a lead and a goal from a 21 by Colm O Connor left the score at 2-8 to 0-4. Just before the break Liffey also had a 21 which was excellently saved by David Kennedy. Two early second half goals sealed the win and the final score did not do justice to a good Liffey side. Scorers for St Sylvesters were Derek Roche (3-0), Colm O Connor (2-5), Fergus Rooney, Derek Morris (0-2 each), Pat Hoyne and Jody Hickey (0-1 each)
