Junior Football Final - big day for Syls

JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL ST. SYLVESTER'S v PARNELL'S This Sunday is a special day for St. Sylvester's GAA club as it sees an adult football team from the club comepte in Parnell Park on championship finals day for the first time since 1997. (We have played in finals since then but not in Parnell Park). We would ask that all club members come out in force to support our first Junior team as the continue their quest to win the Junior B championship for the first time in since 1999.

This campaign started back in late May when we drew with a very
fancied Fingallians side in Broomfield. We then faced the daunting
task of playing Fingallians in Lawless Park in the replay a couple of
weeks later. This game was too close to call until a Johnny Conway
goal ten minutes from time but us on the road to victory.
Next up was St. Judes in the quarter-final in Broomfield where a four
goal haul for Mr. Conway again set us for the win. The Waterford
natives goals have been a feature of the third teams performances this
year.
The semi-final saw us take on a Ballinteer St. Johns side who won
last years Junior C championship and were now pushing for their second
final appearance in two years. Unfortunately for them they met a Syls
side that were on top of their form and they had no answer to our high
pressure game. When Ronan Kennedy got on the end of a blistering
attack to fire to the net with ten minutes left we knew a place in the
final was ours.
This has been a great year for Junior football in St. Sylvester's
with both teams reaching their respective finals and we would hope the
the club members recognise this and show there support by getting out
in great numbers on Sunday afternoon the cheer our lads on.
