Junior Hurlers win in Championship
St Sylvesters 1-11, N Fionnbarra 1-10
The second team seem set for a quarter final in the Junior C Champoinship with a narrow but deserved win over Naomh Fionbarra on Sunday morning. Dave Kennedy was assured in goals and the Kirrane brothers formed a good half back partnership and were well assisted by Eoin mc Clafferty.
lthough up by 6 points at the break the second half was tight when Finbarrs got a good goal on the restart. However we were never headed and a last minute point by Greg Hannon ensured victory. Scorers were Greg Hannon (1-2), Colm O Connor, Derek Roche, Kevin Mc Loughney and Colm Byrne (0-2 each) and Jody Hickey (0-1). Maybe a small milestone but it is the first time a Sylvesters second team has been as high as the Junior C championship and look like making the quarter finals.
