Junior Hurlers win in C'ship over Brigids

JHC C Syls 3-11 Brigids 1-11 . . . the hurlers were a little behind for a lot of the game but came through strong in the last third for a good win . . . I saw the evergreen midfield partnership of Pat Hoyne and Colm O'Connor stepping up the pace and a minors Eoin Mc and Eoin K contributing good scores . . .

Our Juniors qualified for the quarter finals of the C championship after a hard fought win over Brigids. We were down a number of players due to injuries/holidays and had to call on a few minors in the 2nd half who all acquitted themselves very well. Our defence was solid for the whole game and restricted Brigids to mostly scores from placed balls. Up front we started with a very experienced line up. With a combined age of 200+ years (no one is sure of the exact number), the lads worked tirelessly until we emptied the bench and  the 4 minors brought the combined age down by 80 odd years. The minors ran at a tiring Brigids defence and allowed us to pull away in the last 10 minutes. Best for Syls was Johnny Conway who caught ball for the full 60 minutes, while its great to see a Kennedy finally hurling up front for our Junior hurlers. I think Pat said he might even tog out the next day and bring our combined age up above 220 mark!
