Junior Hurlers win play off to gain promotion to AHL6.

AHL7 Playoff - Syls 3-7, Isles 1-10 - . Our Junior hurlers recorded a well earned victory over Erins Isle in Finglas yesterday, which guarantees the team 2nd spot in the league and sets up a final against Whitehall, to be played some time over the coming 14 days. Trailing for most of the game, the team dug deep to eventually pull clear in the 4th quarter, with a late Johnny Conway goal from the penalty spot ultimately deciding the game.

Isles played most of the hurling in the first 30 minutes as we were slow to get going. Despite this, we were relieved to go in at the break just 3 points down. Upon the restart we dominated at midfield with Ronan Kennedy and Johnny Conway at centre forward winning a lot of primary possession. Despite some poor shooting we eventually levelled and pulled 2 clear only for Isles to level it going into the closing straight. Then up stepped Johnny, for the deciding score.

Scorers: J Conway 1-2, C O’Connor 1-1, S O’Connor 1-0, N O’Connor 0-2, R Kennedy 0-1, D O’Riordan 0-1

This is a fantastic result for Malahide hurling, as we have been knocking on the door of AHL6 for many years and is great reward for all the players and management who have given so much to Sylvesters hurling. Final will be played in Cloghran, as Whitehall have home advantage. Date to be confirmed but support as ever will be very welcome.
