Last Wednesday 7th April 2010 we played our first competitive game of the season V Thomas Davis Ladies Gaelic Football Div 3. We were missing a few players and some of the other regular players were playing their first game in the blue with green sash following a long absence. The final result was Syls 1-4 Thomas Davis 6-10. Katie Slattery scored all Syls 1-4.  A meeting of mentors and officials following the game concluded that things could not be that bad.

We were starting a new season with many of the girls wearing the Syls Jersey for the first time or the first time in a few years. This was a cup match and we were also due to play Thomas Davis the Following week in a League  game. Syls were back to near full strength in the league game April 12th 2010, and we had our All Star Sinead Aherne and our other Dubs Player Niamh McEvoy. This was a totally different game. From the throw in the ball was put in to Sinead Aherne. She looked like causing major havock but slipped & fell to the ground at the final hurdle. This led to a false sence of security by Thomas Davis followers in that they thought they had managed to curbe Dublin's top scorer. Sinead picked herself up and sent the next ball into the corner of the net with her weak left foot just as she did with a point in her All Ireland Debut for the Dubs V Mayo in 2003 when she came on as a sub. In the rest of the first half Katie Slattey scored three points and Nicole Owens scored a point. Thomas Davis scored 3 points making it Syls 1-4 Thoma Davis 0-3. at the break.

After the Interval Thomas Davis fought to  come back into the game. However it was not a case of a Nation Once Again but Syls Once Again. Sinead Aherne added a point and this was followed by a Nicole Owens Goal. Davis added a couple of points also keeping them in the game Syls 2-5 Davis 0-5. Following this however syls went on a rampage with three forther points from Katie Slattery followed by goals from Dublin Minor Star Nicole Owens & Dubs senior Star Sinead Aherne.  Further points were added by Vivien Lee, Niamh McEvoy & Sinead Aherne. Thomas Davis tacked on another consolation point leaving the score Syls 4-11 Davis 0-6. Syls Ladies are back.
