Lots to round on this week
Conor McCafferty and Alan Morris played for Fingal against London in Ruislip in the National Hurling League but unfortunately they were beaten by 3-12 to 1-10. Report here
Bernard Dunne won as tough a boxing fight as has been fought - it was a miracle he survived the 5th after being on the floor 2 or 3 times. More guts and bravery - well done Bernard.
And to cap off akind of an Irish Day
, Ireland Soccer captain Robbie Keane dropped by, fresh from humbling the
mighty Chelsea in the afternoon. Gabriel sent his envoy, Carney, to
sound Robbie out but it seems he is happy at Spurs for the moment.
We're delighted to see things back on track for Robbie.
Corgratulations to Kilmacud Crokes on winning the All Ireland. Someone said that 27 of their panel of 30 had played juvenile with the club - quite an achievement for a city club. I first played in Glenalbyn 40 years ago and they were a great club to visit - they are still a great club to compete against - well done to Crokes.
I thought Portumna could not be so good two games in a row - wrong - De la Salle ran into a buzzsaw. Well done to the Brenners and Mullane and the rest on making the final. Kudos, of course, to the mighty Portumna.
Congrats to Dominic McDonnell and the Dublin U21 footballers on beating Westmeath in the Leinster SemiFinal yesterday.
Dublin Hurlers continued their good form beating Waterford at Parnell by a single point in a game that could have gone either way. Performances from Brady, Fallon, Hiney, Boland, Durkan, McCaffrey and Dotsie were very encouraging but a number of positions also need strengthening if we hope to challenge for anything.
