Mark Reilly goal secures great draw for Inters

AFL3 Clontarf 0-12 St Sylvesters 2-06 A late punched goal by Mark earned u sthe draw against table toppers Clontarf and keeps us well in contention in AFL3. On what was a glorious evening for Football Syl's and Clontarf produced an extremely entertaining game that kept the supporters on the edge of their seats right up to the final whistle

It was a game that was played in the best spirit with both teams playing very attacking football.  Syl's started the better with two early points in the first ten minutes but the home team gradually dragged themselves back into the game with some fine long range points that was a feature of their game over the full sixty minutes. Approaching half time Clontarf held a slender 2 point lead when a long ball into the box was won by Aidan Relihan who was then fouled to earn a penalty which Brian McCarthy then fired to the net and Syl's went in at the break 1pt up.  The second half was a very tactical affair with both defences playing extremely well. It was again Clontarf's ability to kick long range scores that seemed like it was going to win the day for them.  They led by 4 points going into the closing minutes when Hacker pointed from a free to leave a goal between the teams with time running out. With 2 minutes of injury times already having been played Camper lobbed a high ball into the Clontarf box and Mark Reilly expertly fisted it to the net to tie the game up and seal a precious point.  The general work rate and commitment shown by our players was a credit to them all and the club. They never stopped trying to get something out of the game and their efforts were dually rewarded at the end.
