Match report U10 Football

The St Sylvesters U10’s were proud to play their first home match on the super Bridgefield pitch against Na Fianna. We had a strong team out and played with great heart and determination. Adam Ajmal played in goal in the first half then moved up to the forwards and cracked in two terrific goals. Our defence of Robert Meehan, Dylan Venner and Daniel Stone dominated the Na Fianna forwards holding them scoreless in the first half. Andrew Roe and Michael O’Brien worked tirelessly in midfield, Michael got some great scores and Andrew demonstrated excellent skill.

Krishna Joyce, Conor O’Brien and Scott Kane all played very well, Conor scoring his usual quota of three pointers with Scott and Krishna winning possession and passing superbly.  Overall a very satisfactory performance where the entire team contributed to score an excellent victory for the club.

The U10 B team were equally impressive in defeating their Na Fianna counterparts however they had to withstand a late rally from the opposition before taking the win. Syls started brightly and with Man of the Match Euan Farquarson  and Sam McCormack driving us forward we had 4 scores on the board before Na Fianna got in to our half. Aaron Lambe Callaghan continued his rich vein of form with a cracking point on the run and with Killian Bousfield soaring high to make a great catch, turn and score, debutant Conor Mulcahy scoring the first of what we hope will be many goals for Syls we were looking good. However credit to Na Fianna  they never gave up and fought their way back in the second half. Stout defending from Joaquin Shinbach, Craig McGrattan and Matthew Brenner was required before a great late point from Stephen Brady closed out the game. Well done to all and it seems that the hard work in training is paying off.

Great teamwork and stylish passing was the name of the game as the St Sylvesters U10's A team ran out comfortable winners against Na Fianna in the first league game of the season on Saturday morning in Bridgfield. In a game they dominated from start to finish the Syl's lads played some scintilating football and managed some impressive scores. This was a great team performance where everone contributed. Ronan Furlong started in goals and had a very solid game while at the back David Deneher, Jack Boyne and Conor Hoyne made sure the Na Fianna lads were not going to get anything easily. At midfield Sean Guiden and Daragh McLoughney ran the show with some great distribution and link up play. Up front Tom Bennett capatilized on all the possession and was a constant threat while Shane O'Neill and man of the match Denis Smith picked off some lovely points at will. Well done to all the lads.

Attached are the stats for each match, we will be refining these over the next few weeks to see what we need to work on in training
