Minor Bs spectacular comeback

Well done to St Sylvester’s Minor B team who completed a spectacular comeback to beat St Vincent’s in a keenly contested match in Broomfield. At one stage Syls trailed by 6 points in the second half but a great team performance saw them winning by a deserved 3 points.

St Sylvesters Minor B Team V St Vincents

Sunday 24TH March 2012.

Playing against a strong wind in the first half we faced a 5 point deficit at the break. This could have been a lot more were it not for some heroic goalkeeping by Mathew Rose-Nell. In the second half the Sylvester’s lads kept their composure and did the basics right. They didn’t panic when Vincent’s threw all they had at them. While there were some commendable individual displays this win was down to great team work with all 20 players playing their part. The team’s experienced players all played a vital part in the win with Colm Byrne effective at mid field and then moving to full forward to get some great scores. Mc Cann, Manning, Dwyer and Andrew Connolly were all solid in the back while Kevin Stacy kept the Vins defence on the back foot throughout. The team’s young guns also gave some excellent performances with Hugh Murray, Dylan Connolly and Adam Goodman showing that the future is bright.
