Minor footballers start with a win

MFL1 St Sylvesters 0-09 Kilmacud Crokes 1-05 Great scene in Broomfield this morning saw our new Minors take on Crokes in the league just three weeks after losing the championship final to the same opposition. The pitch looked and played well after al the rain and congratulations to Mick and his team. With nine second year minors and six more who featured in the championship run we had a fairly experienced team on the field.

Typical Crokes team playing quick ball came out of the blocks fast with a couple of points, Dylan and Dara replied before Crokes scored a lovely goal and point and led by 1-04 to 0-03 at the break. Simon and Jack took over for the second half, supported by our mobile half backs but it took a very long time for us to reel in Crokes, only taking the lead in the last few minutes with a Dara Walsh point and a Dylan Connolly free after a very wasteful period where we coundn't hit a proverbial barn door.

Good start and the training we put in for the final a few weeks back stood well for us.
